Race 3 was a great race; perfect weather, perfect wind and great people. For the week leading up to the event I was having trouble deciding on a board. My 14′ Starboard Sprint is perfect for flat water distance. However, with 20 turns in this race it would be easier to paddle a 12’6. The day before I settle on my original choice a 14′ flat water board.
My start was good but Christine Anderson was keeping with me and I really needed to push hard to break away. I managed to extend the distance between us by the first mark but it was really hard. I stayed strong for the whole of the race and was very happy to finish 1st 14′ and 1st female overall.
Next race is a 10 mile distance race and I am sure Christine will be pushing me hard off the start. Always great to be on a start line with her.
