Norfolk Ultra was the second in the UK SUP Ultra Endurance Series. A 2 day 70km race on the beautiful Norfolk Broads. It was surprisingly hot for the UK in June, with over 30 degrees both days.
As I stood on the start line with 31 other paddlers I knew this race was going to be as much about managing the heat as it was about paddling.
This course had lots of turns and as we all know getting lost is my specialty. However, during these two days I managed to stay on track and finish the event as first female and 2nd place overall ( 23 men finished behind me). The heat was crippling for everyone, but was awesome to see the huge smiles as people accomplished their goal and crossed the finish line.
I will be forever proud of people who attempt ultra endurance events. They take a special kind of person
